Introduction
The fear is understandable, but my experience has been different. Since I was 23, I have spoken about my shoe fetish right at the start of every relationship. Not a single one of my partners has rejected me because of it. There was certainly luck involved too. But at least as important was how I spoke about it.

Where the fear comes from
I know the worry of being seen as perverted or being rejected by a new girlfriend from my younger years and from many conversations with other men. It often has less to do with the woman sitting opposite you than with the images in your own mind. Anyone who has learned over years to conceal a part of their sexuality automatically expects the worst the first time they say it aloud.
There is also a realistic insight that I urge every man with a foot or shoe fetish to take to heart: do not expect her to feel the same way you do. In my experience, very few women do. She does not have to, either. It is completely enough if she is curious and enjoys playing together.

Early is better than late
Many people say that there is no perfect time to talk about your own fetish. That is true. Still, I consider the beginning of a relationship the best moment. I told my wife Malivisia in detail about my shoe fetish on the phone on the very first evening after we met.
There is a simple reason for that. Anyone who brings up their fetish early gives the woman the opportunity to decide for herself whether she wants that. If you wait for years, the question shifts. Then it is no longer about feet or shoes, but about why you did not trust her for so long. This question often weighs more heavily than the fetish itself.
Even so, there is no guarantee. In her doctoral dissertation, the researcher Giselle Rees described how differently people with a fetish deal with it. Some disclose it openly, others merely hint at it, and still others conceal it completely. Both positive and negative consequences for the relationship were reported.
However, early does not mean over the first coffee, nor does it mean presenting a list of all your fantasies on the first evening. There is a wide range between telling nothing and telling everything.

Ask about her first
In my experience, the best conversation about your own fetish begins with her wishes. Ask her what an ideal night looks like to her, or whether there are fantasies she would like to try someday. Be genuinely curious and stay with her topics for a while. Perhaps at some point she will ask you herself what turns you on.
Then you can say it exactly as it is and still keep the focus on her. If you are into feet, for example: “Your feet fascinate me.” If you are into shoes, perhaps: “I saw you in these shoes recently, and the sight blew me away.” That is honest, personal and at the same time a compliment.

What you can keep to yourself at first
Before you seek out the conversation, go through your fantasies calmly once. Some details are simply unsuitable at the beginning. An example: if particularly small feet excite you, but your girlfriend wears a size 40 shoe, do not mention that detail. She cannot change her shoe size and would only feel that she is not enough.
There are two mistakes you should avoid as well. Never compare her with other women, for example with a friend whose sneakers excite you. And do not use a celebrity as an example of “beautiful feet.” Both put her under pressure to have to compete with others, and in my experience that always goes wrong.

When she says no
Openness is an invitation, not an obligation. An initial uncertainty is not yet rejection, and some women simply need time for a new piece of information to find its place. Leave room for her questions. Why feet in particular? What does that mean for us? Such questions show that she is engaging seriously with you. If she cannot make anything of it in the long term, that hurts. But it is not a judgment on your worth as a person. A no to a particular form of play is not automatically a no to you.
And if it really does not fit, you will find out early, before you have built up a lot together. That too is a gain. Fear of rejection does not disappear overnight. But with every good conversation, it becomes smaller.
